Mission
To position the PSOJ as a committed advocate for and contributor to an effective education system that provides benefits for all stakeholders.
Goals
To be an active advocate for
- The provision of the highest quality Early childhood and Primary Education that lays a strong foundation.
- The development of a secondary education system of the highest quality that is relevant, appropriate and accessible to all children.
- The development of a technical vocational and tertiary system of the highest quality that is a driving force of sustainability of development within the global context.
- The development of a social environment that is supportive of education and learning.
- To promote evidence based decision making for education at the policy and service delivery levels.
To foster:
- A spirit of entrepreneurship and self-employment as a viable option for participation in the labour market and earning a livelihood.
Strategic Objectives
- To influence and monitor policy and legislative issues relating to education, skills acquisition and employability.
- To monitor performance indicators in the area of educational policy and service development.
- To promote skills transfer between private sector and educational institutions on management skills in order to improve efficiency of schools and ultimately, the quality of education.
- To foster awareness on educational issues and their impact on individual and national development.

Meeting with Foundations
On Friday, February 19, 2010, the PSOJ Education Committee engaged private sector Foundations in a discussion about a collaborative response to Jamaica's educational needs. This meeting was held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Sam Mahfood Conference at the PSOJ. It provided an opportunity for:
a) the PSOJ Education Committee to share with the Foundations the Organisation's focus/priority areas, current initiatives as well as those to be undertaken,
b) the Foundations and some companies to highlight examples of support being given, and
c) dialogue on the way forward.
In addition to presentations made by GraceKennedy Remittance Services Ltd. and Digicel Foundation, Mrs Brigette McDonald Levy shared her research on the private sector's Corporate Social Responsibility programme and activities in the area of education.
